Trust is our most important asset — here is how we earn it

We are a registered association (rekisteröity yhdistys / ry) under the Finnish Associations Act (Yhdistyslaki 503/1989), entered in the Register of Associations maintained by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH), Registration No. / Business ID 30664502.

Registration is not a formality for us. It obliges us to maintain proper rules, hold annual meetings, keep minutes and accounts, elect our leadership openly, and submit to operations auditing. We meet these obligations not because the law insists, but because the communities we serve deserve nothing less.

Our non-profit purpose is written into our rules: all income and assets are dedicated exclusively to our public-benefit mission, and no part of them may be distributed to members or board members.

Every euro entrusted to us is accounted for. We prepare annual financial statements, have them reviewed by operations auditors elected at the annual meeting, and present them openly to our membership each spring.

Donors and partners receive clear information on how funds are allocated across our four program tracks. Administration is kept deliberately lean — the large majority of our resources flow directly into program work, carried by our volunteer network.

Responsible allocation also means saying no: we decline funding that comes with conditions incompatible with our non-profit purpose, our values or Finnish law.

Beyond Finnish law, we align our practices with recognised European expectations for civil-society organisations: data protection under the GDPR and the Finnish Data Protection Act, safeguarding practices for work with minors, and equality and non-discrimination principles in all activities.

Our volunteers working with children and vulnerable people are selected, trained and supervised accordingly. Trust from families is earned through practice, not asserted in policy documents alone.

We deliberately favour sustainable, long-term community benefit over short-lived initiatives. A mentorship relationship that lasts three years changes a life; a one-off gala changes very little.

Our planning horizon is measured in years: multi-year program plans, reserves policy for continuity, and investment in volunteer training so that knowledge stays in the community even as individuals come and go.

This is why partners who work with us tend to stay with us — the work compounds.
